Wondering just who we are and what we are about?

Healthy home cookin' is a "ministry" designed to help others live a healthier life so they can better listen to God's voice. We want to see you all in the Kingdom! Basically it is a website with lots of FREE vegan health information collected and written by Angela Poch (nee Angela Castellarin).

About Angela Poch, N.C. angela Poch, Angela Castellarin

Housewife and cook for over 15 years, Angela has researched healthful living for her family and friends. This led her to become a lacto-ovo vegetarian and finally a strict vegetarian due to the medical literature she saw showing the benefits of such a lifestyle combined with exercise.

A desired to help others live happier, healthier lives drove her to hold health luncheons in her home. With much prompting from friends, she set out to accomplish writing a series of cookbooks for healthful living. More of her books and materials click here.

Having created and adapted many recipes for the Health Luncheons and friends with food allergies and sensitivities, it wasn't too hard to come up with the recipes needed. With help from her father Wayne Castellarin and husband Jim, she also started Sette Studio (www.SetteStudio.com) to photograph the food for these cookbooks and that in turn branched into custom bookmarkers, nature photography, and more. In addition to writing seven cookbooks, Angela has also written and complied booklets on health and character. As a home schooling mother she saw the need for character emphasis in the home to help families have true happiness.

Angela has graduated from the Total Health School of Nutrition in Calgary AB and she is still researching and studying health and well being and continues to focus on helping others have better health.

My Personal Motivation for Vegetarianism

There are seven reasons why I became a vegetarian. I encourage you to consider one or all of them:

1. Health of Mind. This is my primary reason for being vegetarian. To build up my brain so I can listen to my heavenly father.

2. Health of Body. Do not mistake this for longevity, while it is true many centenarians (those over 100) are vegetarian, this is not my personal goal. I am referring to the quality of life as a vegetarian. Less aches and pains. Less chance of stroke and heart disease which leads you to live in a wheelchair or in a care home.

3. I believe it is wrong to destroy the body God has lent me and being vegetarian is the best way to preserve our body's health.

4. To avoid the needless death of God's creatures to fulfil my appetite desires. (Actually since I've been a total vegetarian, I am finding meat less and less appetizing.)

5. To be a good steward of God's land. Vegetarianism is far more sustainable and earth friendly. While I believe God with re-create the earth, I also believe we should do the best with what we have.

6. I believe it was God's plan for all to be vegetarians, because he commanded Adam and Eve to eat of the fruit of the trees, not the hoof of the ground. I also believe in heaven we will be vegetarian so why not start now.

7. I enjoy the food.
